  Your community organization for assitance

Our History

Corbin’s United Effort was formed in 1990 by a group of concerned private citizens, many of them local ministers, to help deal with the plight of low-income families in the Corbin area who found themselves homeless, at risk for homelessness or in danger of living in unlivable conditions (without water or heat, for instance).

What began as a small storefront endeavor serving a handful of clients per week with a single employee has blossomed into a thriving non-profit agency occupying a two-story office building with a combination paid and volunteer staff of over a dozen. We now serve thousands of families each year.

In addition, we partner with dozens of local groups and organizations to help provide a net of services for the needy, including food, clothing, hygiene supplies, help with moving expenses, utility, and rental assistance.

Our Mission

The purpose of Corbin’s United Effort, Inc. is to help provide a coordinated system for community assistance for homelessness prevention and care of those in need within the greater Corbin area. In order to accomplish this, Corbin’s United Effort, Inc. will serve as a coordinating and referral organization to existing programs as well as, where possible, plan and initiate new programs and assistance as they are needed.
