Our History
Corbin’s United Effort was formed in 1990 by a group of concerned private citizens, many of them local ministers, to help deal with the plight of low-income families in the Corbin area who found themselves homeless, at risk for homelessness or in danger of living in unlivable conditions (without water or heat, for instance).
What began as a small storefront endeavor serving a handful of clients per week with a single employee has blossomed into a thriving non-profit agency occupying a two-story office building with a combination paid and volunteer staff of over a dozen. We now serve thousands of families each year.
In addition, we partner with dozens of local groups and organizations to help provide a net of services for the needy, including food, clothing, hygiene supplies, help with moving expenses, utility, and rental assistance. |
