Eligibility Guidelines
Because different programs fulfill different functions and have different kinds of funding, the eligibility guidelines are different for each program. In order to qualify for services of any kind, all clients must fall below TEFAP's federal income guidelines and must reside in Laurel, Knox, or Whitley County.
In order to qualify for the Homelessness Prevention Program, clients must fall below the federal poverty line and must reside within the 40701 zip code. Eligible clients must also be able to provide proof of a loss of income or increase in expenses within the past 45 days and written verification of forthcoming income within 60 days to maintain housing and utilities. Clients may qualify for Homelessness Prevention funds only once in any 12-month period, up to a maximum of $400 within 24 months.
Because there are a limited number of seats in each class, admission to the HomeSkills Learning Project is competitive. Clients must apply before the application deadline, and the most eligible clients are accepted until the class is at capacity. Classes with different content and incentives may have different approval priorities, but we almost always consider at least need, proximity, and household size when selecting eligible participants. |
