The Homelessness Prevention Program supports qualified homeless and homeless at-risk households with financial assistance to secure housing and necessary utilities or to prevent eviction or disconnection.
The Tri-County Assistance Network (Tri-CAN) is a confederation of Tri-County groups that provide low-income services, including rent and utility assistance; hygiene products; supplemental, USDA commodity, and/or emergency food to low-income families in Knox, Whitley, and Laurel Counties. C.U.E. forms the administrative core of this network in Corbin and Whitley County, screening clients, maintaining the database, and linking these groups together for administrative support. Other administrative agencies include Come-Unity Cooperative Care in London and Christian Life Fellowship in Barbourville.
The Home Skills Learning Project (HSLP) is an educational program for low-income families that combines financial aid or other incentives with quality education in such topics as budgeting, banking, effective shopping, and cooking nutritious meals inexpensively. HSLP classes generally take place twice a year. |
